SF Avondale SC Shaded by Derek Vogelpohl of ShyFoundry is a free Western shaded slab serif display font modeled on the tall, forceful capitals of nineteenth-century wood type. Heavy outlines, offset shadows, and broad squared serifs give the letters a stamped, dimensional finish, with a mix of narrow vertical forms and sharply cut angles.

Frontier history and saloon imagery make it a convincing choice for event posters, beverage packaging, and themed signage. The letterforms already resemble painted storefront lettering. They can also bring a period-specific edge to music merchandise and editorial covers, where the blunt shadows echo vintage advertisements and hand-painted signs.
