Volkhov by Ivan Petrov for Cyreal is a free serif font with sturdy, broad proportions and pronounced stroke contrast. Its wedge-shaped serifs and flared details give the letters a firm, carved quality. The shapes feel formal but not delicate.
Book covers are a good fit, since the weight and classical structure hold their own beside illustration.
