VillaDidot Carved, designed by Sascha Timplan of Stereotypes, is a free decorative display font that recasts elegant Didone-style lettering as stacks of slim horizontal cuts. The striped construction breaks each letter into shifting contours, with tall proportions and dramatic changes in width giving the forms a refined but slightly optical appearance.
Poster design is its most convincing setting, especially for fashion exhibitions, gallery events, or music programming with an experimental edge. It can also shape perfume packaging and magazine covers, where the carved bands echo engraving, blinds, or lines of light. Across these uses, the repeated stripes turn the lettering into both readable type and a graphic pattern.
