TobyFont-Insidereduced Font

TobyFont Insidereduced, designed by Tobias Düsel and Ingo Zimmermann of ingoFonts Augsburg, is a free decorative display font with jagged, hand-cut capitals. The tall, uneven letters shift between broad slabs and pinched strokes, giving the alphabet an unruly silhouette. Small angular cutouts puncture several forms.

Designers working in underground music, alternative fashion, or horror entertainment will find its rough theatrical edge especially useful. It suits concert posters and album packaging where lettering can behave like a carved emblem rather than neutral type. The same warped shapes can lend a handmade menace to game titles and Halloween event graphics.

Twelve-year-old Tobias Dsel designed the characters of this font in 2002 during his family’s furlough in the United States. He drew the alphabet freehand in pencil on stationery without using a ruler.

The font originally consisted only of uppercase letters. All other characters, including punctuation marks and numerals, were created from components of the capital letters.

In addition to the original outline-shadow version, TobyFont Empty, two variations are available:

- TobyFont Inside contains the interior fill.
- TobyFont Full combines Empty and Inside.

All three versions have the same body size and can be overlaid congruently to create two- or three-color lettering.

All fonts can be downloaded free from ingoFonts. The downloadable files contain only a reduced font consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z and a to z. The complete font, including numerals, umlauts, punctuation, and ligatures, is available with an order and payment.
