Drow Rounded, designed by Daniel U. Thibault, is a free fantasy symbol font built from mysterious, calligraphic signs. Sweeping curves meet rounded blocks and tapered strokes, producing forms that resemble an invented alphabet drawn with a broad, fluid pen.
Fantasy languages and arcane codes are its clearest territory. The signs suit game interfaces, book covers, and themed event graphics, where they can suggest secret messages or unfamiliar cultures. In illustrated maps and magical artifacts, the symbols can become inscriptions etched into the objects themselves.
The original glyphs were supplied by the on-line Elven Kingdom of Arèthane (http://www.angelfire.com/rpg2/vortexshadow/arethanehome.html; follow the link to the Elven Alphabet and Dictionary). The character mapping was extensively modified and a large number of glyphs added (digits, punctuation, etc.).
The term Drow originally designated a tiny elf which lived in caves and forged magic metal work (Scottish mythology). The term was used by E. Gary Gygax and TSR to designate an underground dwelling, chiefly evil branch of the elves --and this is the version that took hold of contemporary imaginations. The terms Drow and "Dark Elf" are interchangeable.
