BigFatUglyCow by Steffen Ludvigsen is a free geometric display font built from exceptionally heavy, tightly fitted, nearly monolithic letterforms. The caps look almost carved from solid blocks.
Contemporary art and underground music are natural subjects for its blunt forms, whose stark geometry recalls cut-paper lettering enlarged to poster scale and screen-printed graphics. It can give gig posters and album packaging the look of custom-built lettering, and fashion merchandise gains the same immediate, hard-edged graphic impact. The recurring wedges and cropped openings also suit editorial covers, where letters can merge with angular photography or abstract shapes rather than function as neutral text.
