Nota dell'autore

Amarfil Antiqua is a free old-school decorative font with the stark authority of weathered historical printing. Its tall, narrow letters shift sharply between broad main strokes and hairline details, with rough edges that keep the forms from looking polished or mechanical. The uneven finish is central to its period character.

Engravings and aged paper textures echo its worn contours, making the font a fit for museum posters and historical book covers. Distillers and heritage brands could use it on packaging, where the severe proportions suggest an old label without copying a specific era. It is most convincing in titles that need the look of a rediscovered print shop specimen.

Some characters were initially auto-traced and later cleaned. The remaining characters were subsequently cleaned as well. The typeface is named after the mother of someone close to the creator.

This font is based on the Dubbelde Auguftyn Capitalen typeface by father and son Izakk and Johan Ensched, who owned a printing shop in Amsterdam in the 16th century. All characters were traced as they appeared in the original print. The font contains uppercase letters only; it has no lowercase letters, numbers, or punctuation.
