Sears Tower by Michael Tension of Tension Type is a free eroded old-school display font with the battered authority of antique wood type. Its broad slab serifs, uneven edges, and missing patches produce a rough printed surface, yet the changing widths and quirky letter shapes keep it lively rather than mechanical.
Its distressed surface echoes photocopied photographs and ink-heavy illustrations, making it useful for gig posters and album packaging. The rough print effect feels at home in skate graphics. Breweries and heritage retailers could also use it for product branding and magazine covers with a strong, deliberately weathered print character.
